Accessibility

Everyone deserves an easy path to the river

Our Commitment

Home on the River is committed to making this website accessible to people of all abilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and we review the site as we add new features.

Accessibility Features

  • A “Skip to main content” link as the first focusable element on every page
  • Semantic landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) and a logical heading order
  • Full keyboard navigation with clearly visible focus rings on every link, button and form field
  • Escape closes the mobile menu and photo lightbox; page scrolling is locked while they are open
  • Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images; decorative icons are hidden from screen readers
  • Form fields with visible labels, clear error messages announced to assistive technology
  • Dark overlays behind text on photos, and color combinations chosen for readable contrast
  • Responsive layouts that work with browser zoom up to 200% and on small screens

Known Limitations

Some third-party content we link to, such as our Airbnb listing and map services, is outside our control and may not fully meet the same standards. Please let us know if anything gets in your way and we will help you another way.

This statement covers the website. For questions about physical accessibility at the cabin itself (steps, decks, bathrooms), please ask in the message field when you request your dates and Joseph will give you an honest answer.

Report a Barrier

If you have trouble using any part of this site, tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you use (if any). You can reply to any email you've received from us, or use the message field on our booking page and start your message with “Accessibility.” We aim to respond within 5 business days.
