Your Wild Neighbors

The most-mentioned surprise in our guest reviews? The deer.

Deer, Every Day

Families tell us the kids were thrilled to see deer roaming the community and moving through the back yard — best enjoyed with a cup of coffee on the deck first thing in the morning.

Black Bears

Bears are occasionally spotted in these mountains. They’re after food, and we’ve never had a dangerous encounter. Just bag all trash and close it inside the bear bin outside the cabin.

Ellijay Through the Seasons

There’s no wrong time to come to the river

Spring

Mountain laurel and wildflowers on the trails, cool mornings on the deck, and great trout fishing as the rivers run full.

Summer

Tubing and kayaking on the Cartecay, afternoons at the resort pools, and grilling on the deck while the river rolls by.

Fall

Peak apple season — orchards, cider and fried pies — plus the Georgia Apple Festival each October and blazing mountain color.

Winter

The quietest season. Fire on, hot tub steaming, bare trees opening up wider views of the river and ridgelines.

Day Trips Worth the Drive

When you’re ready to leave the deck, the best of the North Georgia mountains is close by

Carters Lake

A deep, clear mountain lake on the Coosawattee with boating, swimming beaches and shoreline trails.

Fort Mountain State Park

A mysterious ancient rock wall, a fire tower, a mountaintop lake and some of the best overlooks in the region.

Blue Ridge

Ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway along the Toccoa River, then browse the shops and restaurants downtown.

Amicalola Falls

Georgia’s tallest waterfall, with staircases and trails right up alongside the cascade.

North Georgia Wineries

Ellijay sits in the heart of Georgia wine country — several vineyards with tasting rooms and mountain views are a short drive away.

Trout Streams

The surrounding Chattahoochee National Forest is laced with cold mountain streams loved by fly anglers.

Before You Head Up the Mountain

  • The exact address and check-in details are shared after your booking is confirmed.
  • Roads through the community and our driveway are steep and winding — guests suggest arriving before dark on your first night.
  • Not comfortable with steep drives? Park at the top of the driveway and take the 95 stairs down to the cabin.
  • Pick up groceries in town on your way in — the kitchen has the cooking basics, coffee and a gas grill waiting.
  • Plan on grabbing resort amenity passes ($5 per person, per day) if you want to use the pools and courts.
